• Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

Welcome back to another exciting school year at Paul J. Rogers Elementary! As we prepare to embark on a new academic journey, I want to extend a warm welcome to both our returning students and those joining us for the first time and to also share some important information regarding our focus for the 2023-2024 school year.

At Paul J. Rogers Elementary School, we strive to provide our students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for success in all areas of life. This year, our focus remains on improving attendance, student achievement, and social-emotional learning (SEL).We believe that regular school attendance is essential for students to succeed academically and socially. Therefore, we will be working diligently to reduce chronic absenteeism and ensure that our students attend school regularly. We will be implementing new strategies and incentives to encourage attendance, and we ask for your support in reinforcing the importance of regular attendance with your child.

In addition to attendance, we are placing a special emphasis on reading proficiency by the third grade and on strengthening math skills at all grade levels. We firmly believe that reading is the foundation for all other academic pursuits, and we are dedicated to equipping our students with strong literacy skills. Our teachers will employ research-based instructional methods, engage students in a variety of literacy activities to promote a love for reading and provide targeted interventions to ensure that every student succeeds.

We will also continue to prioritize social-emotional learning (SEL) at our school. We recognize that the well-being and emotional development of our students are fundamental to their academic success. Our teachers will continue to implement our school-wide PBIS expectations: Be Safe, Responsible and Respectful and as well as incorporate activities that support the social-emotional growth of our students, ensuring they feel safe and valued.

I am delighted to introduce two new members of our school staff. Please help me welcome Beverley Norvile, our new 6th grade teacher, and Jannette Cardenas Bernal, our new bilingual language assistant.Welcome to the Rogers team!

As we embark on this new school year, let us embrace the opportunities that lie ahead and work together to make a difference in the lives of our students. I am honored to serve as your principal and look forward to working alongside each and every one of you. Wishing you a fantastic year filled with joy, growth, and endless accomplishments!

    Respectfully,

    Dr. Ligia Puraci Principal,

    Paul J. Rogers Elementary School
