General Employment Information
Upon recommendation for employment, prospective employees must provide proof required education, licenses or certificates.
Prospective employees will be required, as a condition of employment, to pass a pre-employment physical, a work capacity test, a drug screening, and provide verification of a negative tuberculosis test, that is no more than 60 days old prior to beginning employment. Some positions will require additional tests. The cost for these pre-employment examinations shall be borne by the prospective employee through Payroll deductions.
Fingerprinting is required of all new candidates offered employment. Employment will be contingent on clearance of all pre-employment requirements including but not limited to fingerprinting from the Department of Justice. Prospective employees must pay the fingerprinting fee.
Employees working four hours or more daily are eligible for family medical and dental benefits on a pro-rated basis; these employees will also pay into CalPERS and Social Security.
Employees working less than four hours per day pay into an Alternative Retirement System (ARS): APPLE.
Eight hour positions receive a $25,000 life insurance policy provided by the District.
