The following steps are applicable to incoming transitional kindergarten (TK) or kindergarten (K) students requesting Dual Immersion at a CJUSD school not related to their  home address. 

1. Complete an Intra-district transfer form*.

The window to submit your transfer form opens on January 16th and closes on March 1, 2024. You may find the Intra district transfer form and additional related information at the Student Services page . 

You have two options to submit your transfer request:

a) Email the completed Intra-district transfer form before 03.01.2024 to:  CWAtransfers@cjusd.net  

(This method is highly advisable. You will receive an automated email acknowledging receipt of your transfer request.) 

b) Mail the completed Intra-district transfer form before 03.01.2024 via USPS to:

*Please indicate the reason for your transfer request is Dual Immersion program and also indicate the site you are requesting: Birney, Grand Terrace, Grimes or Zimmerman Elementary. Indicate a second Dual Immersion site choice should your preferred site be at capacity.  

2. Complete and submit the TK-K 2024-2025 District Enrollment packet to your home school starting the week of  February 20, 2024. Include all the documentation listed in the enrollment packet: immunization record, birth certificate, proof of address, etc. 

As you submit your enrollment paperwork, inform your home school that you are interested in enrolling your kindergarten student into the Dual Immersion Program and that you have submitted an Intra district transfer. 

Once your request for a transfer has been reviewed and conditionally approved, you will receive a letter in the mail by mid May. Such approval is subject to space availability.

3. It is imperative that you immediately communicate with the Dual Immersion site to coordinate the pertaining steps to finalize the transfer.

Enrollment in the Dual Immersion program is contingent upon space availability.
